Chapter 21 Outcome measurements What data is being collected and why?

Abstract

Research variables play a crucial role in determining treatment outcome, as they form the basis of clinical decision making. Statistical variables chosen must follow the initial study design. Selecting the correct research variables upfront is crucial as it often influences treatment plans. Researcher should be aware of basic statistical principles while conducting translational research. As such, a researcher must be able to differentiate effectively between statistical and clinically significant data in their collection and analysis.
