Opioid-free Anesthesia and Analgesia in Clinical Practice: Considerations, Techniques, and Limitations

Abstract

Opioid-free anesthesia does not have demonstrable advantages for either short- or long-term postoperative pain control or opioid use. To achieve minimal use of opioids, appropriate local/regional analgesia and nonopioid multimodal analgesia should be considered.
