How to establish and grow the right team

One of the most rewarding and productive aspects of conducting research is to work within a supportive and effective research team. To do so, it is important to be mindful of key principles of good interdisciplinary teamwork, ranging from promoting positive leadership and effective communication to having a clear vision and respecting and understanding the roles. This chapter will apply these principles and discusses the authors' experiences in developing their Strengthening a Palliative Approach in Long-Term Care (SPA-LTC) team over the years by working on multiple projects together. This discussion will be framed according to different stages, beginning with finding the right people, setting expectations together, growing together, celebrating successes, and supporting one another and having fun.
