A Primer on Outcome Measures

Abstract

The nature of the clinical questions in evidence-based practice determines the search strategy and the type of research studies that answer the question. Where the question involves an overarching understanding of outcomes measures (OMs) content and measurement properties, an evidence synthesis is ideal. In this chapter, we performed a literature search based on the clinical question: What PBOM of upper extremity functioning are valid for virtual assessment of patients with neurological conditions? We identified an appropriate systematic review, critically appraise the review using the AMSTAR 2, and include a discussion on the results and applying them to your practice.
