Psychosocial Rehabilitation and the Role of Psychiatrist

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to propose a model outlining the role of a psychiatrist in a psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) service. Our model proposes that the psychiatrist can provide expertise and guidance at the interfaces between the assessment and medication management, the development of the therapeutic alliance and rehabilitation interventions. Hopefully, our model will help facilitate the establishment of a constructive dialogue on these issues between professionals from PSR and psychiatry.
