A Family: Oriented Crisis Intervention Service for Attempted Suicide

Abstract

A crisis intervention service for the management of attempted suicide is described. Major features of the service are intensive early intervention, routine use of conjoint marital and family interviews, and a multidisciplinary team approach. Data are presented to indicate such an approach to achieve high levels of treatment engagement, low rates of repetition of suicidal behavior, and high morale among staff.
