Radiation induced dimerization of 2- and 3-methyl-2-pentenes

The dimers formed in the electron irradiation of 2- and 3-methyl-2-pentenes were found to have average unsaturations of 1.53 and 1.35 double bonds per dimer molecule, respectively, and were formed with G values of 2.6 and 1.8, respectively. The dimers were considered to form by both ion-molecule and radical mechanisms.
