Computer rendering of high-frequency stacking patterns in cross-sectional stratigraphic simulations using the line integral convolution

Abstract

Here, we show a novel use of a mathematical technique in stratigraphic visualization, which has been effectively used in other fields, to generate high-resolution strata texture maps to improve the rendering of two-dimensional forward stratigraphic simulations during post-processing.
