Abstract

Among the “principles” (7d) in the iSBCS General Principles for Excellence in ISBCS, 2009 is that “different OVDs or at least different lots of drugs and devices should be used for the two eyes in ISBCS.” This chapter explores the reasoning behind this and the strategies available specifically for OVD segregation implementation in ISBCS, with thoughts applicable also to DSBCS. The reader will also find herein information and suggestions regarding other compounds and products for intraocular use, such as the intracameral antibiotic moxifloxacillin, trypan blue preparations, and capsular tension rings.
