Distinguishing between inhibition-based and episodic retrieval-based accounts of negative priming.

Abstract

contrast episodic retrieval and inhibition-based accounts of NP [negative priming] / [note] a rudimentary similarity between the 2 models of visual selective attention / both inhibition- and episodic retrieval-based models posit that NP occurs because response to a probe display requires access to an internal representation of an object that is ignored in a prime display focuses on a wide body of evidence that must be considered in order to evaluate these 2 models / 2 particular relevant areas of research deal with the time course (or persistence) of NP and with the relationship between distractor interference in the prime display and NP / these 2 topics are considered in some detail / consider a host of other relevant research findings / [suggest] that both episodic and inhibitory processes play a role in NP (PsycInfo Database Record (c) 2024 APA, all rights reserved)
