The Effect of Ketoconazole on Post-Burn Inflammation, Hypermetabolism and Clinical Outcomes

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Hypercortisolemia has been suggested as a primary hormonal mediator of whole-body catabolism following severe burn injury. Ketoconazole, an anti-fungal agent, inhibits cortisol synthesis.
