408 The Effect of Hypoglycemia and Glucose Control on Patient Outcomes after Burn Injury
Abstract
Burn injuries are associated with an increase in glucose production and insulin resistance. Hypermetabolism causes further protein catabolism that feeds into gluconeogenesis, thus exacerbating the hyperglycemic state.
