Polyunsaturated fatty acids modulate the properties of the sex steroid binding protein in goldfish

Abstract

This study examines the effects of nonesterified fatty acids on the properties of the sex steroid binding protein (SSBP) in the plasma of goldfish (Carassius auratus). Scatchard analysis revealed a single class of high affinity (Kd 1.89±0.20 nM), low capacity (Bmax 302±17 nM) binding sites for [3H]17β-estradiol in female goldfish plasma.
