Chapter 11 Goodness-of-fit tests

Abstract

In this chapter, several goodness-of-fit tests based on censored samples are discussed. These include tests based on spacings, information measures, transformations, and Kaplan-Meier estimate of the survival function. These are described based on Type-II and Type-I censored samples. Results of an empirical study are discussed for the purpose of comparing the tests by considering some lifetime distributions and a wide range of alternatives. Finally, a few extensions to the case of hybrid censored samples are described. Some numerical examples, based on data observed from some life-tests, are used to illustrate the methods discussed here.
