Isolation, characterization and multiplex genotyping of raccoon tetranucleotide microsatellite loci

Abstract We have isolated and characterized 12 polymorphic tetranucleotide microsatellite loci in the raccoon ( Procyon lotor ). Three multiplex panels comprising the 12 loci were developed and 80 individuals from southeastern and western Ontario were genotyped; allele sizes were assigned without difficulty.
