Fixed-in Variable-out Wavelength Vonversion Using LiNbO3 Quasiphase-Matched Wavelength Vonverter

Abstract

Fixed-in variable-out wavelength conversion using a cascaded χ(2) based quasiphase matching (QPM) LiNbO3 waveguide is proposed and demonstrated for the first time. In this method, the QPM wavelength of the wavelength converter is set to be consistent with the fixed-wavelength of a pulse signal (λs), and a cw control signal with a moderate power (wavelength µm) is used to change the wavelength (λc) of the converted light. It is shown that fixed signal at λs can be converted to any wavelength in a range as broad as 80 nm by using a 4-cm-long device.
