The Accuracy of Dual Photon Measurements of Soft Tissue Composition

Dual Photon Absorptiometry(DPA) and dual energy X-ray(DPX) estimate total body fat and lean tissue based upon the linear relationship between the ratio of the high to low mass attenuation coefficients at the two energies and the fat mass present at the measurement site. Fat and lean standards are used to establish this linear relationship.
