Corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis part I: Pathophysiology, clinical features and assessment
Abstract
Corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis is a serious disorder that results in significant morbidity. In Part I, a summary of the pathophysiology is provided and highlights existing controversy. Clinical features, and biochemical, radiologic and bone density assessment are discussed. In Part II, clinical trials for the prevention and treatment of corticosteroid- induced osteoporosis will be reviewed.
