Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia
Abstract
Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is the most common, immune-mediated adverse drug reaction affecting blood cells. It is of high clinical relevance, as in patients developing this immune response, the anticoagulant heparin becomes prothrombotic.
