Methanol Production from Coke Oven Gas and Blast Furnace Gas
Abstract
In this paper, a novel process is proposed which converts coke oven gas (COG) and blast furnace gas (BFG) from steel refineries into methanol. Specifically, we propose to use blast furnace gases (BFG) as a carbon source, which is a fuel with a low heating value that contains CO2 and other gases. CO2 is stripped from the BFG and blended with H2-rich COG to adjust the (H2 - CO2)/(CO + CO2) molar ratio for methanol conversion. We also propose an …
