Preparation of XeOF 3 + ·Sb 2 F 11 – and XeO 2 F + ·Sb 2 F 11 – . 19 F nuclear magnetic resonance and Raman spectra of XeOF 3 + and XeO 2 F +

Abstract

The 19F n.m.r. spectra of solutions in SbF5 and the Raman spectra of the solids show that the compounds XeOF4·2SbF5 and XeO2F2·2SbF5 have the ionic structures XeOF3+·Sb2F11– and XeO2F+·Sb2F11–, that the XeOF3+ ion has the expected trigonal bipyramidal AX4E type structure and that the XeO2F+ ion has a pyramidal structure analogous to the isoelectronic XeO3.
