The presence of pharmaceutical and personal care products (PPCPs) in aquatic systems has been a growing cause for concern. Advanced oxidation processes such as UV/TiO2 (ultraviolet light/titanium dioxide) can break down PPCPs into smaller constituents, reducing the pharmaceutical activity.
