A two-step Monte Carlo method for wetting on heterogeneous surfaces

Abstract

A new Monte Carlo method is described for studying the equilibrium shapes of fluids on solid surfaces when the contact angles on the surface are smaller or equal to . The method minimizes the energy of the system by consecutively applying two distinct annealing mechanisms. The method is tested for some simple analytically solvable cases and, as an example, applied to a more complex geometry.
