A self-consistent treatment of precipitate growth via ledge migration in the presence of interfacial dissipation

Abstract

Diffusional phase transformations often progress by the lateral motion of growth ledges. We develop an approximate treatment for the effect on ledge migration of a solute which is attracted to the ledge, and which is also rejected into the parent phase by volume diffusion.
