Abstract We are quite suprised by this request for explanation, since we think that our previous papers [Gennaro et al., 1994, 1995, 2000] already answered the questions raised. At the same time, we are pleased to have the opportunity to provide AJIM readers with additional information about how we have tried to demonstrate and explain the causal relationship between lung cancer and asbestos exposure among workers employed in the oil refinery industry, a relationship that, for various reasons, the epidemiologists of oil corporations do not see.
