Responses to comparisons in romantic relationships: Empathy, shared fate, and contrast
Abstract
Individuals who empathize and share outcomes with their partner are likely to react more positively to upward comparisons (UCs) than downward comparisons (DCs). Three studies examined responses to comparisons in romantic relationships.
