Effect of ΛN tensor force on the Λ-particle binding in nuclear matter

Abstract

The effect of the ΛN tensor force on the binding energy of a Λ-particle in infinite nuclear matter is estimated by using separable potentials which permit exact solutions of the Bethe-Goldstone equation. For the same strength of the tensor force the binding energy suppression increases with increasing range. For reasonable values of the range and strength, however, the amount of suppression is found to be less than 1 MeV.
