Cathodic electrophoretic deposition of diamond particles

Abstract

Cathodic electrophoretic deposition of diamond particles was performed on Ni, stainless steel, carbon fibers and felts, Si wafers, SiC and TiC substrates. Zeta potential measurements were performed and possible mechanisms of particle charging were discussed. The electrophoretic process was quantified in experiments performed with Ni substrates. The possibility of electrophoretic seeding of diamond particles via the cathodic process has been demonstrated. The deposits were characterized by SEM.
