Cathodic electrosynthesis of titania films and powders

Abstract

Cathodic electrosynthesis of nanocrystalline titania films and powders was performed via hydrolysis by electrogenerated base of TiCl4 salt dissolved in water or mixed water-methyl alcohol solvent in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The electrosynthesis yield was studied under various experimental conditions. Obtained powders and films were characterized by XRD, TG/ DTA, SEM, and Auger methods. A possible mechanism of electrosynthesis and the role of hydrogen peroxide are discussed.
