Process for Selection of Medical Students at McMaster University

Abstract

The methods used to select students for the medical programme at McMaster University are described. These methods have been developed in an attempt to select those students who will be best able to meet the school's objectives in the type of physician it wishes to produce. The criteria of selection are directly related to the educational programme which is interdisciplinary and problem‐based, and requires the students to be self‐directed learners.
