Overview
Dr. Keisha Gobin is a Clinical and Health Psychologist with the College of Psychologists and Behavioural Analysts of Ontario and an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. She is also the clinical co-lead of the Eating Disorders Clinic and staff psychologist in the Chronic Pain Clinic at St. Joseph Healthcare Hamilton. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a graduate diploma in Health Psychology from York University. She completed her predoctoral internship at St. Joseph Healthcare Hamilton with major rotations in Behavioural Medicine (i.e., consultation-liaison, women’s health, respiratory rehabilitation, palliative care, and renal transplant) and Eating Disorders.
Dr. Gobin's program of research has been an investigation of psychotherapeutic interventions to improve access to care resources, increase efficacy, and to address gaps in the literature. She has engaged in research across physical and health conditions but has an expertise in body image and eating disorders research. Within this field, she has developed and examined the efficacy of micro-interventions aimed at mitigating commonly occurring body image experiences like having negative thoughts about one’s body or feeling badly about one’s body while scrolling on social media. She is currrently in the protocol development stage of larger scale intervention research projects including a body image distress intervention group for perinatal women and a cannabis use intervention for eating disorders patients engaging in regular use. She also engages ongoing research examining outcome data at the Eating Diorders Clinic to ensure efficacy and promote innovation.
