Amanda Sim

Overview

Dr Amanda Sim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and the Mary Heersink Global Health Program and a core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies at McMaster University. Dr Sim's program of research focuses on promoting the mental health and well-being of children and families affected by war and forced displacement. She has extensive experience conducting community-engaged mixed methods research to develop and test interventions to prevent child maltreatment and promote positive parenting and mental health among refugee and other marginalized populations around the world. She holds a doctorate in Social Intervention from the University of Oxford and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Offord Centre for Child Studies at McMaster University. She previously worked at the International Rescue Committee implementing and evaluating violence prevention and mental health interventions in Afghanistan, Liberia, Ethiopia, Thailand, and Lebanon.
