Prolonged adenine nucleotide resynthesis and reperfusion injury in postischemic skeletal muscle

Abstract

Skeletal muscle ischemia results in energy depletion and intracellular acidosis. Reperfusion is associated with impaired adenine nucleotide resynthesis, edema formation, and myocyte necrosis.
