New evidence on the importance of the renin–angiotensin system in the treatment of higher-risk patients with hypertension

Abstract

We reviewed the drug treatment of hypertension in the light of recent trials. beta-Blockers and diuretics clearly reduce mortality, strokes, and coronary heart disease (CHD) in hypertension.
