Patient compliance with antihypertensive regimens

Abstract

Low compliance with antihypertensive drug regimens is a major cause of failure to achieve adequate blood pressure control. A simple clinical interview can identify the noncompliant patient who is most likely to benefit from compliance-improving strategies. These strategies, many of which require a minimal amount of additional clinical effort, can be applied in sequence to help a substantial portion of uncontrolled hypertensives achieve goal blood pressures.
