Congenital Cytomegalovirus Infection in a Pair of Dizygotic Twins
Abstract
Of the cases of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection in twins reported in the literature,1-6 most1-4 have involved only one member of the pair. During a survey conducted in Hamilton, Ontario,7 between 1973 and 1976, urine specimens of 15,212 consecutive newborns were screened for CMV infection; 257 twin pairs were delivered and one pair of dizygotic twins were noted to have CMV infection.
