Deformation Twinning in Iron Alloys Containing Dispersed Particles

Abstract

Acoustic emission has been used to detect the onset of twinning in iron polycrystals containing dispersions of second phase particles. A new explanation of the grain size dependence of the twinning stress is offered based on the grain size dependence of the twinning intensity.
