  • Alterations in the spectral analysis of heart rate (HR) have been documented in patients with Chagas’ disease, which can be interpreted as markers of an impaired cardiac neural regulatory mechanism. The aim of this study was to determine whether cardiac autonomic regulation plays a role in the onset of life-threatening arrhythmias in patients with Chagas’ disease by analyzing the HR dynamics before the onset of ventricular tachyarrhythmia events in patients with Chagas’ heart disease who experienced spontaneous ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF) events after receiving an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator.
