Addressing Trauma-Based Thinking

Abstract

Abstract This module focuses on learning how to identify and reduce trauma-based thinking, which is often unfair or distorted but feels true due to trauma. This module will discuss trauma-based thoughts as a common symptom of having experienced trauma and will help you learn how to reduce trauma-based thoughts. It will help you practice identifying trauma-based thoughts, noticing evidence that challenges trauma-based thoughts. It will also help you identify and generate healing-focused thoughts and work toward shifting from trauma-based thoughts to healing-focused thinking. This difficult, important work builds on all you’ve already done as part of this program. Taking the time to do the work involved in reducing trauma-based thoughts can go a long way toward getting and feeling safer.
