Don't Blame the Mediator

Abstract

The large growth in behavior analysts in North America and across the world has led to exponential growth in the field. With this growth, concerns from autistic self-advocates have begun to look at some of the causes of this criticism and address topics such as compassion and cultural humility. Numerous authors in the field have highlighted the impact ABA could have in fields such as education, but at times there has been criticism about the lack of impact into these disciplines. This chapter combines clinical experience and examples from the literature on ways that keeping ABA do-able for consumers may lead to better outcomes.
