Evaluating Surveys and Questionnaires in Surgical Research

Abstract

SurveySurveyresearchResearch has been widely adopted to gather descriptive and explanatory data from a population of interest. In the surgical field, surveys are often used to evaluate surgical practice patterns and the perceptions of surgeons and patients. The design of high-quality surveys requires careful planning of its methodology to minimize biasBias and generate valid results. This chapter discusses a framework to approach survey design and critically appraiseAppraise the methodology of survey research using a case example.
