Limitations in caring for the morbidly obese

Abstract

Obesity is an increasingly common problem in the United States and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Caring for patients with morbid obesity is a medical and technologic challenge. The following case demonstrates the consequences that can result when this challenge is not met adequately.
