Pregabalin Reduces Postoperative Opioid Consumption and Pain for 1 Week After Hospital Discharge but Does Not Affect Function at 6 Weeks or 3 Months After Total Hip Arthroplasty

Abstract

(Abstracted from Br J Anaesth, 115(6):903–911, 2015) The perioperative use of pregabalin to reduce postoperative pain in patients receiving hip arthroplasty has shown promise. The authors of this study sought to determine how effective the administration of pregabalin, when added to celecoxib, could be at relieving pain for an extended period after surgery.
