Enhanced prolactin inhibition following chronic treatment with haloperidol and morphine

Abstract

Withdrawal from chronic haloperidol or morphine treatment resulted in lower circulating levels of serum prolactin in male rats. A low dose of apomorphine (0.32 mg/kg), which had no effect on serum prolactin in untreated rats, diminished serum prolactin in the treated rats. A lower dose of apomorphine (0.08 mg/kg) also ineffective in control rats, elevated serum prolactin in the treated rats.
