Ultra-high speed fault phase selection method using morphology-wavelet transform

This paper proposes a ultra-high speed fault-phase selection method using morphological filter and wavelet transform. This method firstly transforms the fault phasor into mold fault component through Kailunbeier, and uses morphological filters to filter out most of the noise, then calculates the using modulus maxima wavelet transform, and finally constructs a new type of fault phase selector according to the modulus maxima characteristic of the various modulus. This novel method can remedy the defects of conventional fault phase selector, has ultra-high speed, and is insensitive to fault resistance and system operation mode. Simulation results show that the proposed approach is effective and valid.
