III. TWO PHASE FLOW: STRONG IMBIBITION IN PATTERNED MICROFLUIDICS
Abstract
Displacement of a viscous defending fluid (μdef=340 mPas by a less viscous invading fluid (μinv=0.99 mPas) in a radial micromodel with a diameter of 10 cm. It is patterned with cylindrical posts of height 100 μm and median diameter 1.1 mm. The invading fluid is strongly wetting to the micromodel (μ=7°), and it advances by sequentially coating the perimeters of neighboring posts via corner flow at the low capillary number corresponding to this experiment (Ca=0.0058).
