CEA: A Useful Prognostic Marker in Small Cell Lung Cancer

Abstract

In a series of 180 patients with small cell lung cancer, the pre-treatment plasma CEA level was found to be a useful prognostic indicator. It was strongly correlated with extent of disease and presence of objective response - particularly complete response. It predicted for survival with a persisting statistical significance after correction for performance status and extent of disease.
