Interactions between human Polymorphonuclear Neutrophils and Ampicillin treated Escherichia coli

Abstract

Recovery from acute bacterial infection depends upon the response of host defenses, particularly humoral components such as antibody and complement and phagocytic cells such as the polymorphonuclear neutrophil (PMN). In cases of more serious infection, antimicrobial drugs may be required as well.
