Involution generators of the big mapping class group

Let [Formula: see text] denote the infinite-type surface with [Formula: see text] ends, [Formula: see text], accumulated by genus. For [Formula: see text], we show that the mapping class group of [Formula: see text] is topologically generated by five involutions. When [Formula: see text], it is topologically generated by six involutions.
