The logic behind immediately sequential bilateral cataract surgery

Abstract

The evolution of the understanding of cataracts and the techniques for cataract surgery have come a long way in 50 years. Chapter 1 discussed the history of cataract surgery from the earliest time to the most recent era of immediately sequential bilateral cataract surgery (ISBCS). Chapter 2 answered the question as to why ISBCS was not always performed given its many advantages over the traditional unilateral operation. This chapter dives into the rationality behind immediately sequential bilateral cataract surgery through the personal and professional experiences of Drs. John Bolger in the UK, and Steve Arshinoff in Canada.
